767 mph (1,234 km/h) - also known as the speed of sound or Mach 1. Of course, as you can imagine, Clive Sutton was not able to build a Ford Mustang that can hit this speed. He was, however, able to modify the Ford Mustang Mach 1 so it can now develop a total of 767 horsepower. If you are not impressed, keep in mind that this is almost 300 horsepower more than the standard Mustang Mach 1.

How was this even possible? With a lot of work of course. Sutton took the car’s standard 5.0-liter engine and combined it with a 3.0-liter supercharger with a dual-pass charge cooler and an H-pipe exhaust enhancement.

The updates continue with a track-focused chassis set-up, with updates made to both the subframe and suspension components. Each car will also come equipped with Ford Performance anti-roll bars and a set of new 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The car’s aerodynamics was also improved thanks to the addition of a new racing rear spoiler, an aero front splitter, and a special front wheel lip moulding. For the interior Sutton opted for new, track-oriented Recaro sport seats.

Sutton aims the new Mach 1 - 767 Edition to sit between the Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500. It will be priced at £96,000 (or about $133,000 at the current exchange rates).

The high-performance tuning division of performance and luxury car specialist Clive Sutton has unveiled a new special edition Mustang, the Mach 1 – 767 Edition.

The Sutton team has boosted the power by more than 300 horsepower to hit 767hp – the same value as the speed of sound (767mph) or Mach 1. The steep rise in power is achieved by combining a 3.0-litre supercharger with a dual-pass charge cooler and an H-pipe exhaust enhancement.

However, the performance upgrades don’t stop there. Each car is specified with Ford Performance anti-roll bars, spoiler and splitter, then Sutton upgrades the subframe and suspension components while adjusting the geometry of all four wheels to a Fast Road setup. Each car sits on Ford Performance birds nest wheels, shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

Clive Sutton, Founder and CEO: “Exclusivity, range-beating performance and absolute attention to detail are all qualities our customers look for – we’ve delivered each in spades with the Mach 1 – 767 Edition. The fact we managed to ‘hit the speed of sound’ figure with our horsepower upgrades makes this model even more special… it’s so much more of a Mach 1 than the stock version!”

The new Sutton Mustang builds upon Ford’s special edition 5.0L V8 Mach 1 Mustang, which benefits from an enhanced rear diffuser, specially-calibrated adaptive suspension and a 6-speed TREMEC manual transmission, or 10-speed auto. Enhancing exclusivity even further, the 767 Edition features bespoke interior mood lighting, a custom starter button, a custom arm rest and Sutton badging.

The new model made its debut last week at the UK’s Salon Privé concours - where the show car sold to a buyer at the event. With supply of Ford’s Mach 1 extremely limited, the new owner can be guaranteed of exclusivity. The Sutton team also sold a CS850GT Mustang at the event after the model took part in an octane-fuelled acceleration demonstration on the main drive of Blenheim Palace. The 767 edition is priced from £96,000 on the road, while the CS850GT starts at £115,000. Customers can express their interest at clivesutton.co.uk or by calling +44 (0)207 483 6500.
