The Great American Off-Road Race, one of the biggest motorsport events of the year, is here and going down in Las Vegas, Nevada! The 2022 Mint 400 will be hosting festivities all week long and the racing takes place on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12. Off Road Xtreme’s Event Alert is designed to bring you all of the latest details, scheduling, who is racing, and how to watch all in one easy overview.

The big news is that the 2022 Mint 400 live stream package will include live in-car onboard cameras, live in-helicopter chasing POV cameras, live tracking, PCI Radios Weatherman stream, and live timing with two corrected time updates per lap!

Of course, the best way to watch this iconic desert race is in person, but The Mint 400 has done a spectacular job in bringing it to a live audience with incredible live streaming coverage. Last year in 2021, the Mint 400 online show reached more than a quarter of a million unique visitors.

This year, there are two days of fantastic live stream race action. You can view this year’s program on TheMint400.com as well as select sponsor websites, YouTube and Facebook, and fans will be able to tune in on their computers and handheld devices from anywhere in the world. On-air talent will include Mint 400 CEO Matt Martelli, Supercross Champion Ricky Johnson, Motorsport radio star Jim Beaver, Ultra-4 competitor, and KOH announcer Jim Marsden, The Dirt Life host George Hammel and roving pit reporters Tiffany Stone and off-road cultural icon Bob Bower. Mint 400 fans can watch the live stream for free on live.TheMint400.com or right here in this article on Off Road Xtreme.

At this point, there are seven different vehicle onboard cameras that are part of the live stream package.

The Great American Off-Road Race brings a full week of events that truly resembles and pays homage to this historic race’s namesake. The glitz and glamor of the original event are re-lived through the lens of modern demands and amenities. All week long there is something to do that builds up the excitement.

You know the Mint 400 is coming into town when you see a parade of the most elite off-road racers cruising down the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. Every year, as part of the pre-race festivities and a throw-back to the original Mint race back in the 1960s, organizers show off a tame preview of what these desert racing machines look and sound like. On March 9th, at 4:00 PM, defending Mint 400 champion and Las Vegas local Rob MacCachren will lead the parade beginning near Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino heading all the way to the Fremont East District in downtown Las Vegas. This is a sight that is not to be missed. The event is free,  open to the public, and leaves unsuspecting tourists in awe of the $40 million dollars of off-road racing horsepower.

The Mint 400 Off-Road Festival will be held Thursday, March 10th, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and feature hundreds of the top aftermarket off-road companies on Fremont Street East from Las Vegas Boulevard to 11th Street. Each of the nearly 400 teams will be on display in front of 25,000 off-road fans on their way to technical inspection at the end of the festival. This is a great opportunity to meet the drivers in person, check out the race machinery, and grab some gear. The event is free and open to the public.

The 2022 Mint 400 consists of a 95.7-mile racecourse for the cars/truck classes and a shorter 60.2-mile track for the motorcycle divisions. Depending on the class, the unlimited racers will run four laps totaling approximately 400 miles. Slower limited vehicle divisions are designated to run three laps or as many as two laps.

The Mint 400 will feature two days of exciting races on both Friday, March 11th, and Saturday, March 12th. On Friday the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited four-wheel race will start at 10:00 AM and includes a massive field of UTVs, Class 5 cars, Trophylites, Jeepspeeds, Class ½ 1600s, and more!

The ultra exciting Method Race Wheels Mint 400 Qualifying session will also take place on Friday immediately after the start of the Limited race. Race day starting positions will be set for over sixty Unlimited Trucks, Class 1, and Unlimited Spec Truck racers.

On Saturday, for only the fourth time since 1976, over 150 motorcycles will gather at The Great American Off-Road Race™ and will start off the line at 8:00 AM. The bikes will race on their own rough and technical 60 mile loop. Then, at 10:00 AM, the entire weekend culminates with the unlimited truck race for all the glory. Over one hundred of the world’s biggest and baddest desert trucks and buggies will battle for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.

The race week is here now, but activities have already got underway with the Mint 400 Desert Cleanup this last weekend. This is an important function that helps keep our desert pristine. The race may come around once a year, but the area is frequented by all types of visitors year-round. Not everyone is as good a steward of the land as the off-road community. On Saturday, March 5th, dozens of enthusiasts worked hand in hand with the Mint 400 race organizers, Tread Lightly, Republic Services, and a handful of companies cleaning up the desert. It was recorded this cleanup effort hauled away a record 34.46 tons back in 2019.

The best way to watch the 200 Mint 400 is in person. The very best way to watch in person is from the BFGoodrich Tires Hospitality Suite Presented by O’Reily Auto Parts . As a VIP , you get to watch the racing action in style, shaded seating, TV screens broadcasting the live stream, private restrooms, an exclusive drink bar station, and Michelin Star Chef prepared gourmet food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Off Road Xtreme is sponsoring one lucky randomly selected sweepstakes winner a Mint 400 VIP package for two , so we are excited to see what they think!

Watching the race from the Mint 400 Start/Finish Line Midway Ticket is highly recommended and totally worth the value. It will only cost $15 per person in advance, or $20 at the gate. Kids under 12 are free! This literally gets you to about as close to the action as one would want. There are exciting jumps, berms, and turns that challenge the drivers and vehicles. You can smell the race gas and hear the high horsepower engines scream by. It is a must-see bucket list chance to see some wild off-road racing, but do not forget your Primm Parking Pass .

Watching the race from the open desert is what most seasoned desert-racing pro-spectators would recommend. There is nothing better than seeing these exotic machines at high speeds for long periods of time. Each racer distinguish themselves through a variety of terrain that is mind-blowing. The Mint 400 Spectator Pass allows for one vehicle and its occupants to drive out to one of four separate viewing opportunities located in Jean, Nevada off the 15 Freeway at Goodsprings Road. These areas can be accessed by purchasing a Spectator Parking Pass for your vehicle. Bring your tents, chairs, coolers, and sunscreen!

A General Camping Pass gets you dry camped for the majority of the event festivities in proximity to the Mint 400 venue. An upgraded VIP Camping Pass gets you even closer within walking distance. This would be ideal since most of the area hotels such as Primm Valley & Whiskey Petes are likely booked up at this late hour. In Las Vegas the official host hotel is the Golden Nugget which is perfectly situated for all pre-race events.

There is a massive field of over 360 race teams including car, truck, motorcycle and youth classes. The world-famous Mint 400 has always attracted celebrities and racers from around the globe. NASCAR star Hailie Deegan, UFC superstar Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, UFC Hall of Famer Dan Henderson, Bellator Heavyweight Champion Ryan Bader, Football player Andrew East, Olympian Shawn Johnson, and Le Mans winner Davy Jones will all join the field of racers.

The who-is-who of off-road racing is always expected on the entry list. So far you can expect to see Rob MacCachren, Bj Baldwin, Loren Healy, Terrible Herbst, Steve Olliges, Kyle Jergensen, Kevin Thompson, Ryan Arciero, and Blake Wilkey as just a few of the heavy hitters.
