Illinois officials have placed a stay on an order suspending online auto dealer Carvana’s license to sell cars in the state over its practice of improperly supplying customers with out-of-state temporary plates and its failure to transfer title to vehicles sold there in a timely manner.

The order to stay the suspension, issued Thursday, was the result of Carvana coming into compliance with state requirements by completing title transfers, Secretary of State office spokesman Henry Haupt said in an email.
