Mapco's 14th location in Chattanooga and the production of Volkswagen's all-electric ID.4 SUV are just a few of the many business developments and announcements from the month of July.

Here's a look at the recent business trends this past month in the Chattanooga area:

Mapco opened its 14th location in the Chattanooga area in July along Shallowford Road near Highway 153. The new gas station will be open 24 hours a day and includes eight fueling stations and three diesel lanes.

In addition to their first drive-through coffee outlet in East Brainerd, the owners of Lola Beans Coffee opened a second and larger location in Cleveland, Tennessee, as part of their plans to have at least a half dozen shops in the region.

The Big River Grille & Brewing Works at Hamilton Place closed in late July. All employees at the restaurant were offered positions at Big River downtown, Logan's Roadhouse and J. Alexander's, according to Josh Kern, president of SPB Hospitality, which owns the franchise.

Three boutique plant shops in the downtown Chattanooga area closed throughout the month. The Secret Garden, at 3800 St. Elmo Ave., posted on social media that it was "being forced to move for reasons outside our control" and a new yoga studio is taking over. Botanica, at 1010 Market St., wrote on social media that it was also closing. Bees on a Bicycle, an urban garden center that opened five years ago on Chattanooga's Southside at 1909 Market St., closed in early July as well.

A Save A Lot grocery store at 2300 Dodson Ave. closed after operating for nearly two years.

Wacker Chemie AG is planning to invest $200 million in its Charleston, Tennessee, plant, adding another 200 jobs for production of new silicone rubber and sealant.

Taco Bell opened its fifth location in Cleveland, Tennessee, at 3089 Pleasant Grove Place SW.

Chattanooga's Cupcake Kitchen began offering some of its products in a vending machine at Hamilton Place mall.

KCH Transportation, a Chattanooga-based logistics company, is expanding with plans to add up to 400 jobs across its Southeast network over three years. With offices in several other cities such as Atlanta, Nashville and Tampa, Florida, the company has plans to hit about 800 employees companywide.

Monkey Town Brewing's new location in Hixson is ready to open after its beer permit was approved by the Chattanooga Beer and Wrecker Board in July. The 8-year-old business first started in Dayton, Tennessee.

Chattanooga and Hamilton County leaders announced a new plan for a Lookouts baseball stadium at the 120-acre U.S. Pipe/Wheland Foundry site off Interstate 24 in the South Broad District.

An Arkansas-based real estate investment firm has purchased the Highland Plaza shopping center at Hixson Pike and Ashland Terrace. The 64-year old plaza area is the oldest suburban shopping center in Chattanooga.

Repair and tool company iFixit announced in July it will expand its global business with an East Coast service facility and warehouse in Chattanooga and add more than 200 jobs within the next five years.

A Nashville-based real estate investment firm has purchased the Burnside development on Chattanooga's Southside with plans to add to the renovated warehouses.

Volkswagen Chattanooga started production of its all-electric ID.4 SUV with plans for the first vehicles to be delivered in October. Volkswagen also has plans to ramp up ID.4 assembly to 7,000 vehicles per month later this year.
